This is a digital illustration created as an advertisement for family travel. Big Major Cay also known as Pig Beach is an island in the Bahamas where you can swim with pigs. This place seemed like such a fun place to travel to for families. I thought it would make for a really unique and fun illustration.
This is the original sketch for the design of the add. It features a young girl with swim floaties in the ocean with a pig swimming in the foreground.
This is the rough value sketch for the design. I wanted to keep the contrast between the values low for this illustration . I liked the idea of it having a soft and whimsical look.
After playing around more with the design I decided to darken the value pattern of the design. As I added color to the design it became apparent to get the level of detail in the design that I wanted, I would need to increase the scale of values in the design.
This is the final illustration. I added more vibrancy to the colors in the design as well as adding details in the water to establishment movement and interest. I added texture to pig in the illustration to give it a softer and more furry look. I also added more detail to the little girl in the back.
